Misfires in a 16

Have you looked at the primer on the shells ? I believe Federal shells have a (Fat primer for lack of a better term ) Than a Remington or other shells. I had this problem once with a Italian hammer gun an it was the primer on the shell causing the problem.

Primers were struck WAY off center. Curious, when the shell was rotated 90 degrees, the pin tried to follow the first strike.

I agree and side with the tired mainspring theory. I would check the firing pins, and see if they're mushroomed out on the striking surface. Just a thought...
