I am afraid this thread my end up creating more confusion than clarity.
NY Law distinguishes between handgun carry and long gun transport. The provisions that cover concealed carry don't impact long gun transport. Long guns only need locking hard cases if left unattended in your vehicle and they are not prohibited from movement in and out of the motels.

No I don’t really. Maybe because you’re carrying a handgun? Most of my friends who drop by are carrying and I’m sure not a whistle blower… and you’ve got NO SUCH FLIMSY EXCUSE not to stop by my cottage on the lake for good conversation and refreshments. Heck it’s halfway to Greenville and a good place to stop for a rest.

Just made my Reservation at the Quality for this year's NE S/S.
Verified with Kathy that guns in and out of the facility is no problem.
Also, cancellation is provided for.
