Tom's loads, at 1200 FPS, are tame compared to all the HEAVY 12 and 10 gauge loads, specifically made for turkey and waterfowl. I wonder how many people in our DNR have even SEEN a real 8 bore shotgun, let alone firing one. Someone on our gubmint payroll had too much time on his/her hands!
I honestly think 8’s down to 410’s the only loads I shoot that are even remotely stout are the factory flyer loads , factory 3” 12/20 and factory 10 3 1/2” . And no I shoot no great amount of any of them . Perhaps 200 flyer loads in a year . The others maybe 20 total between the three in a year .

civil disobedience, do you really think a game officer or judge is going to put you in hand cuffs if your shooting bismuth and not exceeding the limits with a 8 gauge. I have been checked once in 50 plus years of waterfowl hunting, when I pulled a SxS out of my gun case the officer said put it away. They were most concerned about autos and pumps with no plug. Just say'n.

Rather than doing relevant research, they go back to 100 plus year old rules for market hunters and that’s that. Slackers all of them. Imho

They are ignorant about such matters and don't represent their constituents one bit in their irresponsible knee-jerk actions or reactions.
