Arrived on the Washington/Idaho border on the 25th. Loved the Donald Mills article. Only one I've read so far.

On arriving home this evening following several days at the lake the new Fall Issue was among the mail in my burgeoning mailbox. I think this is the longest I've waited to receive my copy. I was delighted to finally have it in hand - Thanks to all of the authors and an extra thanks to Mike and Sammy.

I haven't read a line of it yet but the first thing I saw was the front cover picture so I went inside to page 3., The Cover and not a thing was mentioned about the gun’s history and its significance (probably through modesty) but I recognized it immediately as the "Editors Gun" as it was in my custody for some 10 years. Austin did a couple of modifications to the stock, when it was in his custody, and I had a few things (embellishments) done as well. Austin shot that gun exceptionally well at trap and sporting clays and I shot it at a couple of events but this is the first time I've seen it actually hunted and posed with the bag. Very well done Mike!! That's what it was made for!

Dean, from this post and others, it’s clear you revere Austin. He was before my membership and knowledge, but your many positive references allow me to understand not only your relationship with him, but also his importance to all of us. Each of us can only hope that our time here will be remembered by some. You continue to help us remember him, Dean. Thanks. Austin would be pleased.

It’s really good to see an article by Art Wheaton again - it’s been a long time Art. Thank You.

Very true Garry. I guess you could say I revere Austin and I wouldn’t disagree. I am very proud to have known him as a good friend though, intellectually, Austin was a few levels above me.

I think he would be inwardly pleased but outwardly humbled and almost a bit embarrassed at the attention.
