Very interesting letter John.

The guns were made in 1897, the year that Titanic Steel barrels were first introduced. Acme Steel came on the scene several years later. The choices for Grade 4 hammerless Parker barrel steel were Damascus, Bernard, Titanic and then Acme.

And the gun was subsequently sold to a M. H. Hogan of Torrington, CT...... I wonder if there was a connection between M. H. Hogan and our former Parker Pages editor, Austin W. Hogan or his father Austin S. Hogan.

This is a great thread Dave!

Can we hunt on her property? More important, was I in the group that this lady approached at Sandanona? Don't give the newcomers too much information about early Sandanona cocktail parties, Kevin.

Well, I don't know Bill - were you? I think you would have remembered her! She might let you hunt on her ranch if you buy one of her Springers...

I do remember back in 2005 this lady leaving her infant with us while we were drinking wine, and you were enjoying a cigar, outside our motel room while she went inside to change.

Best I can do from her handwriting on the back of the photo she is Angelene Rockwood and the child is Jeffrey "The Littlest Vintager".

I’ve been to all the Vintage Cups and the Sandanona years are my favorites! Given the current state of covid affairs, I’m doubtful they’ll be a VC this year!

The way things have been going, everything is on until a couple of weeks prior, and then they get cancelled. School around here is coming up in a few weeks. Public schools are going online and we are just waiting for the boys' schools to follow suit
