I was mentioning a letter because maybe the cap was original when the gun was built and it just got moved over with restocked.
I would not think it to be connected to Remington since it reads “parker bros”.

Butt stock is definitely a replacement, and not a terribly good one at that. Look how clubby the drop points are...so-so wood to metal fit...a knot or patch of sapwood in the right cheek...pity Brian did not get the restocking job instead. I sure do like the grip cap though.
