David:

I have known the Devine family personally for many, many, years going back to when Jason was just a kid.
Amoskeag Auctions is owned by Jason and Melisa Devine located in one of the old mill buildings in Manchester ,NH . Their integrity is of the highest standards . They have been in existence , I would say , some 15 years+/-, and have come a long ways from day one.
If I were you , I would call Jason and speak to him personally. If you would like ,I will introduce you to Jason---give me a call @ 802-885-1152.

I have purchased SXSs and old Winchesters from all three of the major houses, and have not had a bad experience. Perhaps I have just been lucky. I usually bid by phone, so I know in real time if I won the item.

As for selling, I have only one auction house experience and used James Julia, as it was a high value gun. JJ did an excellent job with descriptions and photographs.

One important question to ask is how much the house charges the seller. JJ waves the seller's cost if the item goes for at least $20,000. I am not sure if they will do the same if you have more than one gun at an auction that totals over 20K.

One thing, however, is for sure-it is usually a lot easier to buy a gun than is to sell one...
