The Parker Story is a two volume set that has a tremendous wealth of knowledge Check with Double Gun Journal to see if they still have "blems" - you won't find the blemish and it's a great price

Thanks. Doublegun lists blemished two volume sets for $295. Can't swing that anytime soon, but I can manage the serialization book. Thanks. Now I just need a barrel. There's one online that looks like it would work, but there are no measurements listed to determine if it's a viable option. The only markings cited are:

"marked Parker Bro Makers Meriden, Conn. Damascus Steel. It is pat Apr 11, 1876. It is 12 gauge with 30 inch barrels. It is also marked D5 with a little 10 above. Original note in left barrel states serial number 58464."

The 5 and offset 10 is the unstruck barrel weight 5lbs 10oz

You're going to have to send us a bunch of pictures to solve the mystery of small frames with big barrel weight. We doubt that you have a #1 or #1 1/2 frame gun. In the place of pictures, you could send us measurements.

I think he is looking at one for sale, not one he has in hand

if it's the one I know of. The seller says he cannot find the frame size marked

Bill watch Ebay for copies of both books. Sometimes used copies come up for sale at a good price. Some sellers want as much or more as you can buy the blems for.
Also check out boxes of gun books at auctions for these as well.
Do you have the original barrels for your gun to take measurements from?

The barrel I need to replace is stamped 1 1/2, and the struck weight on it is 3lbs 12oz.

In searching for a replacement barrel I found one that had no frame size marking, but the struck weight above.

I'll measure the distance between the pins tonight.

bill those barrels on ebay are probably 10 ga barrels...the barrels would be pretty heavy for a 12 ga unless they are 3 frame 12 ga barrels...i expext them to be 10 ga..i have bought a coupla guns expecting them to be 12 ga as listed in the sell ad and they where 10 ga but was happy with them being 10 ga....charlie

Thanks Charlie. I'm just trying to get this one up and running as a safe 12ga. I'd like to avoid spending for things that won't really help, and I'm thinking those other barrels aren't the direct to go. I'll keep looking.

In the meantime, I sent in my letter and payment to see what there is to learn about my first, and currently only, Parker project.
