May be a not-so-good depiction of a woodcock. Looks more like a woodcock than some of the ducks resemble ducks.

Actually, it is a really nice engraving and it is most likely a woodcock. The position of the eye - the short legs - the tail in the up position - the long "bec", even though it comes to a fine point - all say 'woodcock' to me.
We've never seen one like that before and probably never will see another. Very Nice Brother Hall! .
