You will enjoy yourself Matt. Ernie sets up a fun and challenging course. And it is a nice relaxed environment.
Just don't plan on needing your cell phone there.

Matt,
it will be good to meet a fellow Buckeye. Edgar camped out last year and on Sat. afternoon, abunch of us sat around his campsite( at Hausmann's) and shot the bull and had a little adult refreshment--very enjoyable. As far as shooting goes, dont worry about it. We generally dont even carry our score cards--and if you have never shot sporting clays, maybe I wont be the low gun, ha! I will leave very early Fri morning and get ther around noon--it is a long drive, especially when you get close--there is no straight shot. I'll leave Sun, around noon for home.
Harold

Why is it at most of the shoots, "Just don't plan on using your cell phone" is always mentioned, Southern, Hausman's, UP shoot.....etc

I have to say that I'm pretty excited about this format for the shoot this year. I like the ability to qualify multiple times if I want, and I love the formality of having a face to face shoot off with scorekeepers. I think it brings this shoot up a level and will hopefully draw a good crowd for the final. I also like the idea of a slowed down version of the "Crazy Quail" shoot off, instead of the typical five stand. Jim and Benjamin Hall shot the Crazy Quail setup at Backwoods with me last fall, and running full speed it's quite a challenge. I think it's a great way to test the skill of the shooters, based on the upredictable nature of the targets.

For those who need/want to keep in touch while in the boonies, you might consider a signal booster. I get zero, maybe one bar out in the mountains at the hunting cabin. But with the booster I'll get 3-4 bars and my iPhone works as normal with Verizon. I also bought the 12V power supply and unit works equally well in weak areas while in the vehicle or on the ATV. I have no affiliation with Wilson.

I agree Rich. It will be refreshing not to here cell phones ring all day. I know mine went off a lot at Drakes on Thurs, but thats' cause it was my birthday. Should have left it in the truck!
