I'll have to ask David about that Gilbert gun the next time I visit with him. I haven't seen it in his shop where I believe all of his guns are.

I know David had Gilbert's B grade and that it was for sale.

I just received my case of Parker Pages and will be mailing out 4 extra copies to each of the Contributors of material for this issue.

Still haven't received my personal copy from the USPS though.

Rick, I think you should ask Jay Gardner for a high-res copy that he can email to you. You can then send it to a photography 'studio' (Staples, CVS, Walgreens) to have a print made.

I live in Spirit Lake, Iowa, the home of Fred Gilbert, Johnny Jahn, and Bob Allen- all three in the Trapshooters' Hall of Fame.

I too enjoyed the story on Gilbert. There is surprisingly very little play or even knowledge of Fred's accomplishments around here. The local county museum has a LC Smith that is basically a derelict parts gun that they pass off as a Gilbert gun- probably from his earlier days. There are some very fun writings around of his early days as a market hunter around here. I think most of the game was barreled up and shipped to Chicago or the Cities.

Jeff, unfortunately, true research is rarely accomplished at the local level. Stay tuned here, and go on la84foundation's research site, use their search function, and learn. If it is a slow go, let us know and we will guide you.

A GREAT BIG thank you to Dean and the staff for a terrific issue. Makes the Christmas season a little more enjoyable. George's guns are exquisite. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all and may we all be blessed for the New Year in all ways imaginable. Jim

Thanks to Dean for the great Parker Pages and thanks to my neighbor, Tom Breeden, for his Fred Gilbert article. I guess Tom talked Dean into beating the DGJ pay scale.
