Dunno but I got 3 this evening with my Ruger #1B in 270 WIN . Shot one with the Combined Technology 130 Ballistic Silvertip and 55 grains IMR4350 , and then shot the last two with the same rifle and the Nosler 130 BT and again 55 grains of IMR4350 !

If I'm not mistaken 15 puts me at present in a tie for my 3rd best season . My best was 20 and second best was 17 . Since actual hunting season hasn't opened yet I think I'm in good shape !

Got my muzlleloader and shotgun permits for the Blackwater NWR and an invite from a friend at Allens Fresh (Charles County) Maryland for the antlerless early muzzle loader season .

Also a fellow I've been selling some stuff for asked me again today if I was still planning to come up to his place to get a bear and of course me not wanting to hurt his feelings said SURE !

So if I can keep up the pace I'm sure my harvest will increase . But if it doesn't I've already had a very very good year !

Have my fathers Ruger #1B 243 WIN with a Leupold Vari XIII 3.5-10AO out to take this evening . Am also debating in my head whether to carry along my ithaca NID 10 gauge , the Kerner drilling or a Franz Kettner 16 gauge side by .The Ithaca's downstairs in the case with a stock boot and sheels on it so more then likely that'll go with me !

The place I'm going this evening will probably be to long for a good buckshot shot but I'll carry one anyway !

I got 10 pounds of single 0 Buck yesterday , so hopefully this weekend I can get maybe 2 dozen shells loaded with it and can pattern all my classic 12 gauge guns . Well atleast a pair of Parker V grades , pair of LC's and a pair of Sterlingworths !

What the heck might have to pattern my old Greener and the Westley Richards !

Be kinda neat to kill a deer with handloaded buckshot outta either of those two . As all they've ever been fired at since I owned them were dove , quail , grouse or clay targets !

Have an old 60's Superposed long tang flat knob 12 skeet gun I might try the buck in also !

Well Charlie I got number 16 this evening at about 19:00 . Shot her with the Ruger #1B 243 I gave my dad for Xmas about 5 or 6 years ago !

First time I ever took it out !!!!!

Was shooting the Nosler 95 grain Ballistic Tip pushed with 42,5 grains of IMR4350 !

I am not a big advocate of a 243 or 6mm for deer and had not shot one with either cartridge in quite awhile . But I gotta say that bullet knocked the fire out of the doe I shot !

She was a lasered 56 yards and I popped her thru the two front shoulders and she bumbled maybe 30 yards forward .

Next trip is going to be a 1B I have in 6mm REM loaded with Hornady 95 grain SST's !

My little Border Terrier Keelie had to be put to sleep today . She was 15 years and two months a couple days ago !

She was fine up until friday afternoon and then she couldn't keep anything down . We took her to the Vet saturday morning and they said she had an infection of some type so we then took her to the pet hospital in Charlottesville and they did tests etc . We were informed she had cancer in her liver and it was nothing they could do . So we went up this morning to see her one last time , they put her to sleep and we brought her home .
