I am not convinced the powder shortage is local to me nor easing up. If you shop the big reloading retailers as of today; Recobs, Powder Valley, Natchez Shooters Supply, MidwayUSA, Ballistic Products, Precision Reloading, Gameliel etc. You will find that popular Alliant shotgun powders, Red Dot, Promo, Green Dot are not available in any quantity. Most of these places had Promo at all times until just before Christmas.

Sorry Pete, Dawsons has every powder except 4756 and 7625 in the 4# container but does have even that in the 1 and 8# containers. There are shotgun primers in Cheddite, Rio, Noble Sport, and Winchester. All the wads and lead you want. So I don't really see that much of a shortage, at least here in the mid -west.

Mr. Harm:
With all due respect, if you are referring to the Dawson's Enterprises in Massillon OH, you are regrettably incorrect. I just phone them today, and they have absolutely NO shotgun target powders available, save a small reserve of Promo.

What's more, they do not expect any powders to be shipped anytime soon. Especially the various "Clays" powders.

Sorry to bear such news...

Not good news John but it helps to confirm my observations of surfing the web that the shortage of shotgun reloading powder has gone from spotty to non existent at this time. Let's hope it eases up soon.

On reading this I called Dawson's and placed an ample quantity of IMR 7625 and PB on hold for Paul Harm's order.

I also asked about the future availability of IMR single based powders. The salesperson laughed when I told of the Internet scare
I was informed that these powders will continue to be manufactured but will be sold under the Hodgen packaging rather than IMR.

I was also informed that Winchester AA Lite, 780, and two other powders will be discontinued.

If anyone knows anyone at Hodgen corporate headquarters who they may ask to can confirm the above listed logical explanition please do so and post up.

All is well in shotgun land...

Mark

Mark if all was truly well in shotgun reloading land any of us should be able to go our local gun shop or any of the various on-line retailers and buy one or more of popular shotgun target powders; Red Dot, 700-X, Clays, Promo etc. I don't see that is the case. If you found some powder somewhere that's great but right now that seems to be quite an exception to the current situation. I am simply reporting my observations of surfing various retailer websites and reporting the powder situation has worsened.

Ok so why is there two different stories here? From the same vendor?

Ironically my club does order from this company and powder seems scarce....
