No Flounder, but...

I posted a couple of photos in the "Parker Of The Month" thread taken on last falls marsh hen hunt. Mr. Andrew Thompson commented that all I needed to add for a really "goooood time" were a "slot red fish and a flounder". Well this past weekend my son and I gave it a try...but did not catch a Flounder.

We were supposed to have the highest tide of the season but a cold front came through with a lot of wind and blew nearly a foot off the tide. Made pushing for hens really frustrating, however we put up a few. While trying to get to the hens we had seen a couple of tailing Red Fish in the shorter reeds and about a foot or so of water. Put up the guns and got out the light spinning tackle (didn't have a Parker-Hawes) and had a "goooood time".

Hope this is of some interest and that I don't get expelled from either Association for giving equal time to Mr. Parker and Mr. Smith.

What, one .410 is not enough for you? Serioiusly, that's a nice looking pair of smallbores. The bull red is not bad either. 5 pounds or so? Make a nice court bouillon.

Two questions here: What is the bird? And what is the fish? Great looking fish.... And isn't the Parker in that pic a 28ga?

No Richard, it's a .410. The sculpting of the barrels at the forward end of the flats is a dead giveaway of a Parker .410

I appreciate all the responses.
Dean is right on the Parker,a VHE, the other is a Field grade L.C. Smith also a .410. These are a lot of fun and effective (within their limits) on Rail birds where we hunt them.
The Bird: Clapper Rail (Rallus longirostris) aka Virginia rail, mud hen, marsh hen common in the marshes of the East coast.
The Fish: Red Drum (Sciaenops ocellatus) aka spottail bass, bull red, red fish, reds.

I guess I was looking at the shells and one looks larger than the other; must just be hiding part of it. That fish looks like a natural for the grill!
