28 Repro Barrels

Hi, new guy here but a long time reader of these forums. I have a 28ga Repro with 26" barrels choked IC MOD and noticed that there is a large F on the barrel lug. What does this mean? I have seen similar 28ga barrels with 00 on the lug and knowing that this gauge was on small frames, am puzzled about the F designation. On the hinge there is a large I . Can someone enlighten me on this subject? Thanks!! Brad

Hi Brad,

I don't know the significance of the "F" and the "I".

I just checked my two 28 ga. Repros and don't find such a marking. My serial numbers are 28-3033 for the IMP & MOD barrels and 28-3961 for the Q1 & Q2 barrels - if production range might have some bearing on the markings.

Thanks Chilled Shot for responding, I have always enjoyed your take on the issues raised here on the forum! I don't know, I thought the lug should have had a 00 on it, and was puzzled by the F designation. My serial number for the 28 is 28-656. I also have a 20 ga Repro that is also IC MOD and has a 0 on the lug. The serial number is P-352. Just curious as to what you guys think. Thanks! Brad
