Default GH Parker Question

Just found out this is an upgraded gun that started life as a V grade with 30" barrels and pistol grip stock. I'm no longer interested. It is on Gunbroker if anyone else would be interested. Very nice man has the gun. Looking at a 20GA Parker GH that has a straight stock and a checkered butt, with a beavertail forend. Any idea how many of these would have been made? The checkered butt is a little rare I know, but one other thing, this gun has the chokes stamped on the barrel flats. Gun is completely redone and looks nice so stamping was probably done when finished. Just wanted to get some of your thoughts. Thanks

Does the checkered butt include a skeleton buttplate?

No and I've found out this is an upgraded gun not an original GH so I'm no longer interested. Thanks

Gunbroker number is 242687766. Since I told him what I found in the book he has dropped his price and listed it as an upgraded gun. Nice Gentleman

Why would they upgrade to a "G?" I would think an upgrade would be an over the top gun as far as grade would go.

Can't answer that question. He sent me pictures of the flats and it appears they say G and he says it is a G so I'm taking his word. Started life as a V according to serialization book with 30" barrels and capped pistol grip.

The team of Del Grego and Runge upgraded a good number of VH and VHE guns to G but they didn't stop there. There are some amazing examples of V's upgraded to A's and AA's in existence. Maybe someone who has one of the higher grade del Grego and Runge upgrades will be nice enough to show it here.

Dean,
I'm not sure if you ever saw it but I had a D/R upgrade A1-S at one time. To this day I still can't figure out why someone would take this very late Remington VHE 20 gage and upgrade it. This gun came from the factory with 28" vent rib barrels, beavertail forend, and Parker single trigger. In my opinion that gun in good original condition would have been worth as much or more than it was as an upgrade. If I can find any pictures at work tomorrow I will put them up. Also D/R signed all their upgrades so if the G mentioned earlier in this thread was done in their shop it likely has their name on it somewhere.

I've never seen yours Larry, or even a picture of it. I hope you find the pics.

Bill Hadfield of Robin Hollow has or recently had a R&D .410 AAHE that was stunning and hard to tell from the 'real thing'. The serial number of this one was not in the "book".
