The REM’s weren’t bad recoilwise but the WIN things were noticeable and my god they spit out a lot of confetti looking stuff . These Winchester shells were the ones back in the 60’s Winchesters man in Africa David Omney I think his name was were shooting in the ads WIN put in the American Rifleman back then . If memory serves he was using the somewhat new shells in the somewhat new Winchester 1400. The picture with my gun was at the first peg , I shot three times there .

I have only one Parker that I consider stout enough to handle those old green ribbed Remingtons or the red Win Mark V's. They work well but really bark!! Can't see doing a tower shoot with them. Tower shoots sure are a kick in the pants though. I've seen birds launch and fly around above the entire circle of shooters without getting a feather ruffled, then landing in the middle of the circle and strutting around wondering, "jeezus, what just happened?!"

That is a good description "not hunting exactly" We do a tower shoot once a year and it is good clean fun, but not "hunting" in my book. Pheasant is good eating

I've probably run my dog at 100 tower shoots. I have seen amazingly good, and amazingly bad shooting. More importantly, I have been confronted with a number of unsafe gun handling situations. I have had a number of high volume counseling sessions with a few jerks

A local lumber yard used to buy about 10 shoots a year, which meant there would be 28 carpenters and contractors at each shoot. I've seen guys pull out a new 870 out of the cardboard box, and then ask how to assemble it. I paid a lot of attention to them!
