Default 1889 Parker CH Hammerless 12 Gauge

Good day to you all.
I joined this group mainly for knowledge on Parker shotguns. I've always tried to learn from others who are willing to share. So here we are giving it a go. One thing I know from over 20 years of doing this starting when forums were no more than a chat room was this. People love to ask questions but not post pictures. Well, that is not the case with me.
This gun's letter just came in and it states the stock configuration was a pistol grip. I know that the research was determined by 132 year old documents which are not always correct or legible. So I would like your opinion on this since it is not a pistol grip stock in the least. The gun was returned in 1913 for a set of 28" Vulcan barrels that it now wears.
I appreciate your time and comments to come.

Very attractive Parker. My "guess" is that it was restocked and the barrels were re-finished. It appears to have been done well. I like both straight stocks and grade 4 Parkers!

The gun has been restocked. Butt and forend. The original pistol grip guard was cut off and lengthened. The quality of the work overall looks to be very good. But the devil and clues are on the details.
The checkering on the whole gun is more proper for a B grade or A grade. Not a C grade. And the shape of the end of the guard tang is simply not right. And you can see where it was welded up front with discoloration to the metal finish.

The gun sure is an attractive shooter. Use it lots.

I'll say this: That gun will not embarrass you in any hunting camp.

A beauty, have you removed the trigger guard? The serial # should be stamped in the wood., under the straight tang.

Let me get this: a CH from a great engraving year, straight/splinter stock, two triggers...what's not to love about this gun?!

Now, since you are so well schooled on posting photos, we'll be anxious to see some with the gun and the game it takes (or you and the gun at a clays event). Keep posting.

I agree with Brian's assessment of the work done to it.

With that said:

This is one beautiful gun which I think just about anyone here would be proud to own & have in their gatherings, I know I sure would be!!
