The typical bore measurement for a 12 gage is .729 which would make your chokes .028 (Improved Mod) and .038 (Full). |

0.696 seems to be the prevalent value for full choke in fluid steel Parkers. Bore diameters vary, and so do choke tapers.
Have some fun and fire a few shots at the patterning board; that is the only real way to find out. Best, Austin |

Your measuring device is not working well. A dime should not drop through a .691 bore. A dime is .705.

After Bill Murphys advice I obtained a better instrument to measure the chokes.
Left is .722 and Right is .720 From what I can determine these are close to skeet choke. Is this a common choke for a 1924 VH 12 gauge with 28 inch barrels |

Tom, the only way to truly determine the choke is to measure constriction in thousandths from the bore diameter to the last 1/4" or less of the choke.

Have you checked to see whether the barrel length of your VH is the same as when it was manufactured? Such light constrictions are unusual for uncut Parkers.

It appered uncut to myself and a gunsmith I trust with a good reputation.
I went by his shop to have him measure since my I was off on my choke measurements. The barrel measured 28 inches The owner many years ago was an active quail hunter back when this area of Va still had birds. I am waiting on a nice day to shoot it on paper to see what it does, been too cold with snow recently. THANKS |
