Default Nice story in Sporting Classics

Seems to be a lot of confusion over what is a Trojan

nice wood on a VH

i have done the same sort of thing in a gun shop- try to be honest - told by the owner he knows more than me, walk out with a deal and a clear conscience

I had read it before. It is a good story. All except the part about possibly lengthening the chambers for turkey hunting, but it's still a good read!

I'd read that somewhere before as well . I actually think with all the dust on it I would have made him an offer since it was such a "beater" gun !

A few years back I was in a small gun shop. There was a standard 16 gauge Auto-5 in the rack. It was nice with a 28" barrel and the old French Red finish. I asked the dealer if the price on the tag was a mistake. He told me no because it wasn't a "Sweet Sixteen," and nobody wanted 16's anyway. I made him an offer and he took it because it had been "on the rack too long." Other than the friction ring installed backwards it was near new.

I read that story somewhere; maybe in the mag. Mine usually run the other direction: some guy with a beat up field grade something or other (or worse) who thinks he's got a prize .

Well.....I get hung up on numbers, perhaps, but a worn and beat up VH is not gonna bring 4 or 5 times the price of a worn and beat up Trojan. I also gotta wonder why it took reading the 'Vulcan' on top of the rib to notice it was not a Trojan....I'd think you'd notice the frame sculpting difference long before.

Oh well.
