Good sound guns. A very good copy of a Webley & Scott. They are one of the more reliable single trigger guns.

Sadly, the early SKBs had less than reliable flat springs. Mostly top lever springs. Many worked fine for years however. Good guns for the most part.

Great design guns, a real workhorse, very well regulated. Hammer and sear springs are prone to breakage. The greatest problem with the original SKB guns is with the soldering of the barrels. The monoblocs on the O/U barrels frequently seperate as do the forend lugs on the SBS barrels. They can be repaired and refinished. Plenty of repair parts still available.

Unfortunately, my 20 ga. Weatherby Orion (made by SKB) was NOT well regulated. It is a fantastic gun. However, the top barrel shoots a hair low, and the bottom barrel shoots very high. It is like having two very different guns on the same stock. I returned it to Weatherby (we're talking approx. 1990), and after they had it WAY TOO LONG, they told me it shot within spec.
Well, that's why I shoot Parkers. I can tell that they were actually regulated by a person with functional eyes. It is sad that Weatherby chose to not stand behind their product, as I will never buy one of their guns again. I know that others have probably had better experiences than I with Weatherby guns, but - with me - when it comes to my hard-earned money, they only have one chance to make a first impression... |

I've had a 100, 200 and 280. All have been great guns. A friend is still shooting the 200 and she loves it. It is her quail and woodcock gun.

I hope these detrimental features don't apply to the new Turkish guns. Anyone know about these?

Bill, i had Mark DeHaan order me one of his custom huglu's, about 12 years ago, it is a .410 bore, sideplated boxlock, with really nice exhibition grade wood, straight stocked, semi beaver 27 1/2" tubes, fixed imp modified chokes, sst,and 15" pull to an engraved SSBT. It replaced the LC smith 410 i had been shooting since junior high, that was stolen from me. I have conservatively put 125 flats of 3" thru the gun...no issues...at all. On hindsight i wish i had ordered a double trigger gun, but have had no issues with the trigger that came on the gun....oh.. And non automatic safety. If interested ill post a pic or two...my beloved elsie that was stolen still holds a special place in my heart, as i,literally grew up with it, after my father grew up with it! BTW, the DeHaan gun is on a true .410 miniature action, and is an extractor, as i prefer extractor guns greatly.
