Default Father's Parker Research Letter

First, thank you Mr. Bishop for such a timely reply to my request for a research letter for my father's Parker.

Although only a 16 gauge Trojan, it was carried by my father for over 40 years, and I have carried it for 28. This little gun has traveled from Maine to North Carolina in pursuit of grouse and woodcock. However, in it's checkered past, it has harvested almost everything from rabbits to turkeys and even one deer.

Father worked for the Reading Railroad as a bridge repair foreman, and bought the Trojan from an engineer. For years after the sale of the gun, whenever the engineer saw my father's crew working on a bridge, he would stop the train (Schedules be damned!) and try to buy the gun back.

This sweet 16 gauge Trojan will serve me till I can no longer hunt, and hopefully, by then, I will have found a suitable caretaker for her for the next 50 years.

This Parker has given both my father and I a lifetime of memories, and whenever I handle this little gun, I can see my father cradling the Trojan and hear his voice once more.

Hello Michael,

I'm glad you are happy with your research letter. There are many members here that have Parkers handed down to them from their ancestors. We know how special these guns are. The grade doesn't matter in those cases. A Trojan is just as important as an A-1 Special to us.

You and your Dad and that Trojan have some wonderful memories to tell. Please consider continuing them in Parker Pages - we'd really like to read more.

There's a whole lot of soul in that gun and Michael's post.

I agree Allan. It could become a semi regular column.

I suggested this ages ago and even agree to spearhead the effort. My plan was to gather articles then collect them in a book. We had one article submitted that was decent and another sent in that wasn't something publishable. Somebody else take the reins, maybe you all can make it happen.
