This thread reminded me of a conversation I had with one of my daughters some years ago. She was out here and got to looking at my library and asked questions about some of the books. The conversation, during dinner, came around to "if you could only take a few things with you in an emergency or to a smaller house, what would they be?"
After some thought I opined that my 16 gauge VH 0 frame and my Derrydale Burton Spiller books would be my first choices. They are the things that most represent my years of grouse and woodcock hunting with my various dogs and sometime hunting buds. The dogs are gone and the hunting buds are in greener alder thickets - but still in my memories. |
