In Transit, Arriving Late
Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility.

2-day priority mail... and the package contained homemade Christmas cookies. At this point, the recipient is expecting to receive a box of mold.

While I totally agree holidays etc slow things down I just wonder anymore how much is actually because of what they say or rather they’ve gotten so used to that excuse they use it while house now . Seems as if the time honored process of “I pay you for your service and you agree to do it in a timely manner” have gone out the window and are a pipe dream now .

Default Cookies/USPS

We sent several packages, via Priority, of Christmas cookies to in-laws in Rock Hill, SC on 8 December. Email yesterday they were in the Brooklyn, NY distribution center but no where to be found. We suspect the Elves took them up to the North Pole.

HAPPY New Year.

Default USPS

I understand Sara's predicament .We did not go to usual family Chriistmas gathering so instead we sent some cooked food that we usually make for the Holiday . Overnight express cost $35.00 ,distance 200 miles, package did not arrive for 4 1/2 days, food spoiled.
I luckily followed the tracking # and printed out the fact that after 4 days they were still guaranteeing me delivery in 24 hours !
They had spoiled the Christmas spirit.
Next day I went to the Post office after trying to complain on line and the post office telling me that the package was stolen off a porch.
Local post person said this obviously was not your fault. Delivery was guarenteed and issued me a check for the entire amount.
The point of this long winded story is maybe if it costs them enough in refunds
they will improve service.

I sent packages to two members here on December; anticipated delivery was shown as December 18 and 19 respectively. As of this morning the tracking info on both still said the same thing as the message Sara received above, and hasn't been updated since the 19th or so. Sorry guys !

The only time any post office in this country made money was during the Civil War when the CSA made money all 4 years.

After watching this thread when combined with my recent personal experiences. I've come to the conclusion that there is currently some alarmingly large systemic problems with the USPS.

Everything I've ordered in the last two months has arrived in a normal time frame if it was shipped through carriers other than USPS, on the other hand everything shipped through the USPS system has been slow, late or in a couple of cases lost completely and this includes my daily mail.

I have no idea of the many possible causes of these problems or if they'll be resolved anytime soon. All I know for sure is I won't use the USPS to send anything of value or that needs to arrive in a timely manner until things smooth out with the USPS.

Conversely, I ordered something on 12/27, delivery was quoted at Jan. 7 to Jan. 14, and I received it yesterday! Go figure...

I've had a few Amazon orders pending for some time. One tracked as having been put into my mailbox on Nov 19, which was not true as I was here. A few days ago I got a notice from Amazon that it had been returned by the carrier and they had given me a refund. Go figure. Another small order tracked as being stuck in a facility in NJ for three weeks. They gave me a refund on that one despite me not wanting it once they told me that the package was actually on the way in my direction. A few days later it arrived here. Very unreliable service during the holiday season.

The solution is very simple. Get Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk to take over the post office. Bezos will get it here before you get up from your computer, and if you don't like it, Musk will pick it up, return it to the sender and put it back on the shelf.
