Harold, Do you get on the the PA turnpike to Harrisburg then north on rt. 81 or is there a better way to get there? Oh, by the way, if we happen to shoot together not to worry, you will look good!

Boy, there is no straight shot, or easy way there.
I go I 70 to New Stanton and take a short toll connector to RT 22( the same one that runs thru Cambridge), and then 22 to hit I99 just south of Altoona--then 99 t0 I 80 and from there , I cant remember all the twists and turns.

I can get to within spitting distance with my eyes closed.
Its the last 2 miles that gets me every time. Seems I go round and round.

For those coming from the south and planning to use I-81N from Wilkes Barre thru and past the Scranton area ..... there's a lot of road/bridge reconstruction going on in that section of about 20 or more miles. This morning the TV news reported a 3 mile long backup in one section. You might consider getting off I-81 at Wilkes Barre and using an alternate route to Hidden Hollow or to the Parker hooch in Vestal NY. Sorry I won't make any suggestions for alternate routes; I did that a couple of times in the past and it didn't work out with some gents. Nuff said. If were doing it I'd try using Mapquest and "stretch" the map route north of Wilkes Barre to find alternates on the state highways.

Thanks for the heads up on I-81, I was kinda thinking of that route, about 80 miles longer but I think less drive time. Back to plan B I guess, just have to figure out what plan B is.

I go I-81 to Wilkes Barre, then 309 to 29 into Tunkhannock then Rt 6 to Meshoppen, 267 through Lawnton then 4015 to Flynn Rd. Takes me about 3 hrs from Harrisburg.

Best to turn your phone completely off at Hausmans as it will die very quick from searching for a signal constantly.

Matt, coming from Ohio? Look at Interstate 86 along the NY/PA line. I drove it last year and it was a good choice for me. I can't remember if I used NY417 but I think I did? Getting old and "the second thing" is going I guess.

interstate 86 is the old four lane route 17 with the grade crossings removed, 417 is the really old two lane 17.

you can get off 86 at Nichols and head south on 282 into PA- a GPS or mapquest will fill in the back roads

that's my usual route, going to be sorry to miss it this year.
