There has arisen on this thread a debate that has followed John’s initial inquiry about the mechanics, engraving, and value of the CSMC Fox guns. The discussion, however digressive, as been illuminating and I have been informed by it. Notable is that at no point has anyone imputed anything but quality to the New Britain Fox guns.

Whatever the iteration under consideration, the following quote, although originally written about a very different kind of object, could be applied to all of the guns being discussed, new or old:

A. H. Fox shotguns in my opinion are the "best" value today in the American side by side market. You can find a original in good condition for a reasonable price and recently someone posted series of pictures of an upgrade project on a Fox. Additional CSMC will make you a brand new Fox so for us in who enjoying shooting our FOXES we all win.

There has been discussion that some CSMC Foxes were made with cast frames rather than forged steel frames. What is the deal with that? If there are cast frames, is there a problem with them and how do we identify them?

Yes, when I did the plant tour in 94 I remember discussing the frames. They were investment cast, I remember seeing a bin of them. I think that is the same method used for the ruger red label. At any rate I haven’t had any problems due to this on my gun.
I believe they are now from forgeings. I don’t know what the practical differences would be.

Let's see, some thing like 35 -40 years between Original Fox's and CSM made Fox's. I have Heard CSM Has (Owns) the rights to Parker Shotguns. If CSM starts making them again, will those "Parkers" be "Original's ?Harry

The enlarged and italicized part of Harry's quote is the true key to the argument or any discussion suggesting Remington Parkers and Savage Foxes as being "reproductions."

And then we have the "Parker Reintroduction" by Remington in the 80's and then the Remington-authorized Parkers made by CSMC...
These seem to be a subjective matter of interpretation and I think it all boils down to semantics.
