I’ve been searching for a new ammo band because mine is pretty old and stretched out but the only ones I could find on the I’net were longer and had spaces for 10 or more shells. With a single shot I think that’s made for a very poor shot or a very optimistic hunter.

Rich, mine is a 1.5X5
The best wood I have seen on No.1’s was on Morris Bakers.... but of course he and Bill Ruger were friends. .

I still miss that 7x57 and I sold it over 30 years ago. Being a friend of Bill Ruger would have it's advantages in wood selection. I think if Ruger marketed the #1 as a semi custom rifle with nice wood and custom features such as case hardening, grip cap options and but treatments along with sight options they would sell.
They do make a nice platform for a custom gun however and I have less in the 300 H&H than I would if I ordered a Dakota M10 the same way.

Wow, forty rifles that will kill a deer. We're all afraid to ask how many shotguns you own that will kill a pheasant. You are definitely "The Man".

What can I say Bill, I'm a gun nut
I subscribe to the philosophy of "It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it". I admit to having bird guns for early ,mid and late season in multiple gauges.

As I said earlier I’ve always liked the 1A in 7x57 and 6.5x55 which has me thinking an 8x57 in 1A configuration might be nice as well . To say nothing of a 1A in 9.3x62 . I actually believe they made a few 1S configured guns in 9.3x62 .
