If there's an issue I have with calling that piece of wood best exhibition quality is what appears to be pin knots on both sides of the stock. Nonetheless, I don't think that it would taint anyone's gun cabinet -- I'd love to have it in mine.
Burl walnut of any wood type can be stunning and that one is as good as it gets in Claro. I personally am not a fan of burl because of all the various pin knots and voids one encounters. That said this particular stock is straight grained where it needs to be in the wrist area. IMO that is about the best Claro burl I have ever seen.

Howdy

20-ga DHE with 26" barrels, Imp/Mod, with single trigger. (edit-wow...first time using a host photo site for posting pics and it's a success!)

Bought this from a long time friend that acquired it new in 1998. It was a leftover reproduction from NJ.

How about the wood on this 2-pc. cleaning rod? Curly maple stained golden oak and finished with tung oil.

Recently a PGCA member friend put his talents to work and then sent the brass ferrules he made to me el gratis -- thank you little buddy! Another local friend and I turned the rod on his lathe. The cleaning rod now resides in my 28 ga. Po' Man's Parker 2-bbl. set case.
