Try a lower setting on her collar.

Edgar, I shared your reply with Elaine. She said, “Now that there was funny!”

That's a great idea- thanks!

And I get what you mean about having to pull the darn sleeve up everytime you look at your watch. I have resorted to strapping the watch over my sleeve.

We, too, are bell folks (except when after pheasant in SD) and put them on even when training or roading here in SC. You become so accustomed tp it that it's mostly when the bell stops that it gets your attention. It may help in scattering hogs and coyotes.

Harold,I usually run my refresh on 5 seconds unless I am close to a road. I carry my handheld clipped to the front of my vest,I can correct a dog with it still clipped to the vest. It is not in the way of my gun mount when worn like this.

I have the 300i, I really like it. I bought the accessory clip that attaches to the back of the handheld. I cut a slot in my vest and stitched it up so not to get any bigger. It rides high on my left chest just above my heart. I can glance at it as needed. I use the watch too. I will get a picture of my set up and post it. SXS Ohio

I know many of you use Garmin GPS systems and like them a lot. I have a Garmin 300i and continue to be somewhat frustrated with it.. I also have it paired with the Instinct Solar watch. I have a few questions.
1. How often do you have system refresh, I was told to put it on every 10 seconds, hell, my dogs could be over 100 yds away by then, so I moved it to every 5 seconds. That's better, but thinking about moving it to 2.5 seconds, battery may not last as long, but the 300 system is supposed to have a super battery.
2. The only time I get the dog on point signal is when I lay the collar on the tailgate for a minute or two. I had Doodle on point for 70 seconds today, absolutely solid, but no point signal on handheld or watch.
3. Where/how do you carry the hand unit, extremely poor design by Garmin to clip it to the vest, guess they want you to lose it. I've seen a couple holsters on line, thinking of the Kydex one with a spring steel clip. In South Dakota I just put it in the game pouch and used a lanyard to secure it. Without the Instinct watch , the hand held seems quite awkward/cumbersome.
4. Damn ticks again!! Ran the dogs this morning in the cut hayfields in back of the house, they were covered in ticks. Was 35 degrees, but was almost 60 yesterday. Have seresto collars on them only 4 months old, think I'll put them on an oral also. At least there were no ticks in SD. Hate to even run the dogs in these conditions..

One thing I forgot to mention was that I have had excellent help from customer service. There can be a pretty long wait on hold but you can leave a call back number which is what I usually do. Since my memory is so short I write all my questions down in case it's hours later they call you back. I am impatient with electronics (my wife is an IT person so usually she can help except when she tells me it's "user error") and I must say the tech folks at Garmin actually use the devices and have given me some great tips. Hope the 300i works out.
