Default Shot Size

I load mostly 8 shot for clay targets, but I do load 7.5 shot in my 8 gauge and 10 gauge.

I’ve been told 7.5 shot will break distant target better than 8 shot, I just could never say that I definitely saw a difference.
What shot size were you guys using on these far targets?

There was a few targets that were picked up down range that had holes in them but were not broken, I would feel pretty safe in saying that there were probably pretty many targets that had a hole or 2 punched in them, but they only broke apart after hitting the ground.

Unfortunately I had my shells loaded up with #8 shot. I usually use 7 1/2 for those longer targets or targets on edge (those were both long and edgy!!) but I had to bring what I had made up. The 8s were fine for the 5-Stand layout events or even events on a regular clays course, but these were stretching out that #8 shot beyond effective range.
