My Gracie did the very same thing at 5 months on a VT grouse... and she retrieved it!

PGCA Pres Wooden is competitive . If Russ was going to retrieve , Tom was also .

Russ was shooting an 1890’s PH 20 with laminated barrels. A rare gun .

They weren’t hard to break to hunt dead. We took them to the buffet at Kentucky Fried Chicken and told them to find the wings. After a couple trips they were almost ready. They still have a tendency to eat the bird if they think no one is watching.

I love my 24" PHE 16 for shooting over pointers, especially in hvy cover. Nice hunt Bruce!
