Speed Bags ??

Wow. I have to have one of those. The heavily gathered ends are the best I've seen. You should almost be able to stand on your head without spilling shells. I have no idea how big it is, I just know I need one. One of the regular vendors at double gun events, "theleatherman.net", is making, at my request, a small speed bag that is worn on the belt like a shell pouch. The advantage to this item is that we can bend over without spilling shells. I didn't check on the progress of this new item when I saw him at the Northeast Shoot. I'm sure we'll see him at the Vintagers. He makes a nice speed bag and other items.

Speed Bag, I had never heard it called that. I like to think of them as a murse.

1. Murse: a man's bag, can be used to hold a laptop and other man supplies, such as firearms and firearm supplies.

I've actually used a speed bag shooting driven birds. They're great but always make sure you get one with a top opening big enough to easily fit your hand all the way inside without too much effort. First one I had, before I knew what to buy, had a smaller opening and my big mits didn't want to go in it easy. When you're loading quick on a drive or in a hot dove field you want to be able to get down in there with some speed hence the name......

Another feature of speed bags is that when you give them a good shake up and down, the shells will tend to orient themselves with the shot load down and thereby making it easier and "speedier" to grasp two shells at once by their rims which are then oriented pointing up. Give it a try, it really does work.

Yeah, if we can go to the moon, we ought to be able to design a bag with shells ready to insert, brass up.

i seen a movie of JOHN WAYNE a while back he was hunting with a hammer gun and what looked like a speed bag made of leather. then again it could have been a game bag. i have often used and old purse as a shell bag and a game bag.did the speed bag serve as only a shell holder or was it also used to put game in.... charlie

McLintock! is the name of that movie, my favorite of John Wayne's. I think he does put the bird in the bag.
