Maybe it's the angle of the photo, or more likely my old eyes, but to me that right barrel looks a LOT more open than the left one. Like they could be bored cylinder & full. I'd like to know what measuring the chokes turns up.
Dean makes a good point about the termination of the matting. The termination just doesn't flow; looks as if it was added. That bead (I love the color) looks a bit large. So, the last 2 inches of the barrels make me think somebody had this gun setup just the way THEY wanted. From the factory or later? Last edited by Hal Sheets; 08-24-2016 at 08:40 AM.. Hum, I look at the muzzle photos and I see bright shiny steel where I would expect to see some patina where no original finish exist. Skeptical, you bet. Does the rest of the metal surfaces display any areas of patina. Compare the rest of the gun.

The shinyness at the muzzles indicates to me that they were simply filed to get rid of rough edges etc. from decades of use and the darkness of patina there in order to tidy up the gun and may possibly have been done by the OP to get a better idea if there are keels in place.

My vote would be that the muzzles were only cleaned up not cut.

The chokes will tell the story.If they are long and the gun is not backbored it has not been cut.If they are very open I would say the barrels have been cut.However,I have never seen cut barrels that touched at the muzzle.Even a small trim would leave a gap.

If you have the gun in hand take a tape measurer and actually measure the barrels. If there a little short or a little long that might be a good indication as to weather they have been cut.
