2 7/8" hull, Cheddite or Win 209 primers, SP10 wad and a 1/2" filler inside that SP should work. I use Unique powder and a 16g 1/2" fiber wad for filler in the SP10 and 1 1/4 oz shot on top. You may need an OSC if your crimp doesn't close all the way.

Your nitro card and fiber wad recipe would work and should give you lower pressures. You might have to use hard fiber wads. You'll need to experiment with your wad column for proper height.

It's been awhile, here is the latest version of my Comprehensive Short Ten loading data spreadsheet, updated through 1/17/26. There are four new loads since the last update thanks to people on this page, I have highlighted those loads and all of them use currently available components.

Default Hull differences

I am curious if anyone has experience with some of the older, long-discontinued hulls found in some of these recipes--and if they perform significantly differently than any others. For example, the attached highlighted load. To me, it seems suspect that that much lead on top of that much longshot would produce so little pressure. But, that is not a hull with which I am familiar. Do some of these older hull designs make that big a difference?

I have the same question. I only got into reloading the short ten recently and have scrounged a variety of hulls - Winchester, Federal, Remington, new Cheddites. At modest pressures, are these all relatively interchangeable?
