Southwest Kansas Hunting
Tough on the wild bird population this summer with no rain and temps 105-112 day after day. Had decent enough cover but the conditions killed a lot of birds. No first years and only a residual population of second and third year birds.
Hosted and guided a business group of Mississippi peanut farmers yesterday, temps in the 50's, shirt sleeve weather for us but cold for them, and gentle prairie breezes wafting over the plains at 30 gusting to 35. That and the 5 ft high tall sorghum made walking a little tough.
