Default ejector/extractor mechanism question

I'm tuning on my repro and have recut the chambers to nominal on the CSM barrels, because they were very tight. I also cut long cones in it and polished them.

I was also having a problem with the rim of the shells hanging on the top of the breach of the frame. With the gun in the fully open position after ejecting empties, the extractors sit up just high enough that the rims are over the frame. I'd like to trim the end of the extractors about .030-.040" where they contact the ejector strikers on the forend.

My question is:
Does the extractor play any role in cocking the ejectors as the gun is closed?
