A 1-frame was one of the standard 12 gauge frame sizes, the other being the 2-frame until the 1 1/2-frame was introduced as a standard 12 gauge frame size. After the 1 1/2-frame was introduced the 1-frame was gradually phased out. I don't remember seeing another 1-frame 12 gauge as late as yours but others may have.
