Welcome Eddie, The Parker lifter is such a great design. It is my favorite type of hammer gun.

If yours was made in 1899 it was a late lifter, meaning someone would have ordered/wanted a lifter as there were other hammer and hammerless options by then. It would be worth getting a research letter.

If you you really want to have some fun, load up some black powder shells. That's hard to beat and there is a black powder cartridge event at the Southern many of us enjoy. It is fun to make some smoke!

Enjoy your lifter and post a few pictures when you get a chance.

These will help you to start reloading 2 7/8" 10 gauge shells. We have many tested 10 gauge loads that are safe not only in pressure, but recoil as well. It is wise to consider the 100+ year old wood.
