Mine arrived on Monday. Once again, my complaint is the clear plastic wrapper. Why not something more discrete like a solid white or navy blue wrapper?

No need to draw attention to yourself, not everyone is as Pro 2A as you might be. Nothing good comes of clear wrappers. Do you honestly think you’re going to turn the mailman into a Parker aficionado because of that clear wrapper?

Good point Ian, but the clear wrapper is the cheapest way to package it and seal-it for bulk delivery to the central post office. Any other way would require handling of each copy which translates to more expensive handling.

We’ve been through this before Ian. The only firearm magazine that came in a solid cover was DGJ and the cover said Double Gun Journal. The NRA magazines, Guns and Ammo, Field and Stream, etc all come wide open for everyone to see. If your postman doesn’t like it tell the USPS. If you’re afraid of what any neighbors would think I’d ask them why they are looking at your mail. As I told you in our emails this week, we put the magazine together, your editors and the PGCA don’t control the packaging and shipping. We will not pay more to ship them in a solid covering. If you are unhappy with that you can allow your membership to lapse and you don’t have to fear anymore. This is the last time this topic will be discussed, especially in an open forum AGAIN.

I like the plastic wrap. It protects the magazine.

This issue was exceptional. Thanks to the contributors and our editors (and thanks, Andy, for your good work).

That’s called shrink wrap packaging . They’ve got rather rapid machines for doing that of this I know from quite a few years in the magazine printing industry all be it twenty years ago . And I’m sure the shrink wrap mailing machines are far better than the ones twenty years ago . However I know of no cost efficient way of stuffing in paper envelopes . It might be a thought to use plastic that’s colored I’ve seen it in blue , white or red if memory serves . But if I’m not mistaken the printing binding run for Parker Pages is maybe 2k printed and bound but maybe 1.7k or so for mailing so in a run that small one cannot expect it to be cost friendly .
