You may not be doing anything wrong? Do the barrels have extractors or ejectors? Sometimes the guns with ejectors get them uncocked and they are in the forend. If that is the case they 1) may need repair or 2) simply need to be re-cocked before assembly.

There was a thread reciently where someone more knowledgeable than I had a slick way to re-cock them. I use a piece of scrap wood and lots of effort but it can damage your hand and or trhe foprend if you slip doing it that way.

I'll search around and see if I can find the thread that had the better method (that I have not used). If I find it, I'll post it here for you.

But, if you have extractors, then its something else?
