I read every word O'Conner wrote in the late 50's/mid 60's that I could find. I have a book he wrote on shotguns. However, he never seemed to ever cross my mind when the subect was shotguns. If memory serves I think he had a couple Model 21’s . But I don’t recollect him ever mentioning a Parker or any of the hardware store guns .

Of course, you meant to say "a Parker or any OTHER of the hardware store guns.

Jack had more than a couple of 21's. In one story he and Eleanor were shooting ducks at relatively long range with a 20 bore LCS with 30" tubes. He also wrote about shooting a Winchester 97 and Model 42 pump guns. That's all I recall at the moment.

The not so recent book about Jack's guns is very interesting reading. His rifles are much more interesting than his shotguns.
