There are a lot of things suspect about the gun. The buttplate has a spacer added to it. the forend is not original it would have had a splinter forend. The gun does not have the proper forend lug for a beavertail and the style of the forend wood is not at all correct for a factory forend. The wood has been refinished for sure. The cheek checkering looks of factory quality, but it is not in line with the norm for the grade. The lack of proper borders on the wrist checkering suggests a low quality recut, or maybe a later remington stock replacement as the style of border present was only used on very late remington made guns.
