You mentioned that you had 1/2 inches of foam on the stock to lessen the drop at the comb...

I had to do that with my EH 10. The problem was that the foam pieces was rather wide, so when centered over the the stock's comb, the foam piece had some "overhang" on either side of the stock. As a result, I raised the comb, but also accidentally added some "cast on." All I needed to do was be sure that there was very little foam hanging over the "cheek" side of the stock - I sent the excess over to the other side, where is didn't matter. It now works fine - it raised the comb by approx. 1/2" without messing up my cheek placement.
