I have read both books many times. By far the best reading on the subject I have done. I am a bit partial, was raised in the late 40s and 50s in the country. Except for the salt water stuff, I lived a lot of what Ruark wrote about in the first book. The picture is my paternal grandfather with Jake and Queenie (my Frank and Sandy). I still have the hat.
