Well, it doesn’t appear to be nickel plated, but rather appears that someone removed the original case colors. Now that you’re able to post pics, can you show other views (top, bottom and other side) of the frame to confirm what we’re seeing, please?

Well, not really "compromised". More than a few owners of Repros have had the poor original colors removed and had finishers like Doug Turnbull apply real bone charcoal case colors with excellent results. I kind of like the bare look of the gun in the pictures. I don't know if it will rust or not.
