When my son left for college ten years ago I more closely identified with this old joke:

Do you know why God made little kids so loveable?
So you would take care of them.

Do you know why God made teenagers so obnoxious?
So you wouldn't cry when they moved out.

To Phil and Lee and all of us who have lost a child, March 8th marked nine years since my dear son Robert passed to the hands of God. A good friend gave me this verse which has always helped set my mind at ease.


Those we have truly loved,
We will always love,
And that which was deeply felt,
We will always feel.
Remember, death can take all things save one,
Love remains,
For love alone is real.
