If I'm reading the serial number correctly - 53852 - it is a 16 gauge on the 0-frame size (very desirable) in very nice condition but has a terrible replacement forend wood,
It was made with 28" Twist Steel barrels and if the barrels check out with safe wall thickness and no pits in the bores it should provide endless hours of shooting and hunting pleasure. the condition of the frame, hammers and lock plates look wonderful... now let's hope the rest of the gun was cared for as well.

Congratulations,

However, unfortunately the tops of the barrels at the breech end show some pitting indicating at some time somebody neglected to store it properly... away from anything that would hold moisture against the metal.
Also, the stock has been poorly refinished and the nose of the comb looks to have been altered.

. This is what the nose of the comb should look like. This is also a 16 gauge on the 0-frame.

Decent gun, agree with Dean, hopefully bores are not badly pitted. Fore arm is the biggest distraction, he is one from a close serial # gun. Its the one off that set of 34" O frame 16 I picked up several years ago.
