First off, thank you for the replies it helps out a great deal. To George's reply; It does have that on top of the barrel and will take a look at joining the PGCA. This gun has some questionable history. My Grandfather was a cop from the 20 to the 40s and how he came by it is a subject of humors debate in the family. What does IMHO mean?

Brooks; I weight the barrel with the (forearm snap-on?) and it came to 3lbs 11oz. I am not sure how to measure how to check a 3" chamber. Other marks on the barrel flats; J.G. with a circle around it, NT/A.

Chilled: thanks for the recommendation on the cleaning.

Is they a place on line for a shot gun glossary with pictures?
