I have some of these shells in paper hull and plastic hull....they varied in different colors thru the years....I have grren ones yellow and black in the Remington brand...the Winchesters are clear im sure the early Winchesters were paper too...the 4 gauge was also made in industrial shells and I ve seen them in 10 ga and 12 ga...the 12 ga is fired from a regular shoulder fired gun...I read an articule on the 12 ga...this fellows job was to break up the clinkers in a furnace...he used up to 3 pallets of ammo in a given night..he said no kind of shotgun made except a Mossberg pump gun would make it thru 3 pallets of ammo with out tearing up except the Mossberg s...lots of shells in a pallet of ammo...charlie
