That's a light 10 gauge. My short chamber 10s kick excessively with those stepped chambers even with the light RST 2 5/8" 1100fps load. Perhaps that was the cause of the cracks behind the lock plates. For that reason, I shoot mostly brass shells in my 2 5/8" 10s anymore.

That's a beautiful gun and that wood is very nice.

That inspires me to do something like that with the one I have.

I can't believe the stepped chambers have anything to do with excessive kicking - I'll bet it is a combination of the weight of the gun and the DAH and the pitch.
